KEEPING HISTORY ALIVE
Welcome to the Historical Miniature Gaming Society - South Chapter, known to all as HMGS-South.
Our organization is known as the absolute best gaming group in the southeast.
And our conventions draw the best games and game masters from all over the country.
We boast a membership of over 300 from all across the world, including some of Florida's best local gaming clubs from the Panhandle to the Keys.
At HMGS-South, our goal is to promote all areas of gaming with an emphasis on historical miniatures and to provide an atmosphere of fun as well as education about our hobby.
We provide our members two great conventions every year: RECON in the spring and HURRICON in the fall.
Each convention hosts over 100 board, card, miniature, and RPG games hosted by our professional game masters and members.
At our conventions we not only provide attendees a chance to play, but an opportunity to buy, sell, and learn about what's new, what's old, and what's up and coming in the gaming industry.
Not too crowded, not too few, but just right. And this spring we will return to Cocoa Beach for RECON 2010 from April 29th - May 2nd.
The theme for the spring show is NAPOLEONICS and we are hoping to debut some new game systems at the show. Additionally, we are going to take time out to honor one of our local game designers RICHARD BORG.
Richard is at almost every HMGS-South convention, and always has a smile and a hand shake if you drop by his booth or play one of the games he hosts at the show.
Richard's best known game design to the general public might be Yahtzee Free for All (2008), but in the historical gaming community, Memoir '44 (2004) which won the 2004 International Gamer's Award, is the most popular.
Some of the other games designed or co-designed by Richard include: BattleLore (2006), the classic dice game Liar's Dice (1987),Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citadel (2000), Battle Cry (2000), and Commands & Colors: Ancients (2006).
Come join us in promoting the hobby, or just rolling some dice and having a good time.
